He carried a scoreless streak of 28⅓ innings before Vladimir Guerrero Jr. broke through with an RBI double in the sixth. Horton’s performance helped the Cubs secure their fourth straight win, splitting the early series on their six-game road trip.
Offensively, the Cubs were powered by home runs from Michael Busch and Matt Shaw, with Busch also adding a sacrifice fly and Seiya Suzuki driving in another run with an RBI single. Toronto’s offense was largely kept quiet, despite a solid start from Kevin Gausman, who allowed only two earned runs over seven innings but couldn’t contain the key Cubs homers that proved to be the difference.
