The City of Burlington is making major investments in two exciting community hubs: the Skyway Community Centre and Park and the Robert Bateman Community Centre.

The City of Burlington is making major investments in two exciting community hubs: the Skyway Community Centre and Park and the Robert Bateman Community Centre—a clear commitment to creating accessible, inclusive, and sustainable spaces for residents.

The $39 million redevelopment of the Skyway Community Centre, one of Burlington’s largest infrastructure projects in recent years, is set to open in Fall 2025. The new facility will feature an NHL-sized ice pad, a multi-use indoor track, and flexible program spaces. Outside, Skyway Park will be home to a 275-foot baseball diamond, natural playground, accessible pathways, and shaded gathering areas—all designed with sustainability in mind. Energy-efficient systems, including geothermal technology, are expected to reduce emissions by up to 85 per cent.

Meanwhile, the former Robert Bateman High School is being reimagined into a vibrant, multi-use community centre. With partners like TechPlace, Burlington Public Library, Halton District School Board, the City of Burlington, and Brock University, the facility will bring together learning, recreation, and innovation under one roof. Upgrades will ensure full accessibility and support programs for residents of all ages.

These transformative projects reflect Burlington’s vision for connected, active, and resilient communities—preserving vital public spaces while enhancing quality of life for generations to come.
