The downtown Burlington Beer Store at 396 Elizabeth St. is scheduled to permanently close in the new year.

Beer Store spokesperson Jim Warren confirmed the closure in an emailed statement on behalf of CEO Roy Benin on Dec. 23. The store will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025.

The statement noted the “two closest Beer Store locations that sell beer and accept empty alcohol container returns” are located at 1235 Fairview St. and 2055 Mount Forest Dr.

Warren and other Beer Store staff did not respond to additional questions by deadline, including why the store was closing, how old it is and how many employees would be affected.
