Premier Doug Ford has rejected an appeal from Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward to preserve the speed camera program.

Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward speaks in support of using speed cameras in school zones, saying widespread signage was not deterring speeders.

Whether this ban will deliver cost savings, reduce perceived unfair fines, or lead instead to higher speeds and safety risks remains to be seen.

This marks the 17th consecutive year Halton has held the top spot, outperforming Toronto, Ottawa, Peel, Hamilton, and other large regions.
